3dsmax 2012 Announced!

Yes it's already been a year since 2011 was announced, and now it's time for 3dsmax 2012.  I had the privilege of putting my 2 cents into this product as one of Autodesk's beta testers, and I was also quoted in Autodesk's "What's New" brochure for 3dsmax 2012.  There are some awesome features that will be integrated into the software out of the box.  I could tell you here, but go check them out on Ken's blog.  Well done to the Autodesk and mental images teams for outdoing themselves again with a great package!

  1. I've been reading up on the 2012 progress, seems like there have been some nice things going on; not many new features that I will use most likely, but we'll see. What is your opinion on the viewport scenario Ramy? Is performance running better than '10/11?

I'll be running a setup consisting of an i7-990X, 24gig 1600mhz ram and a quadro 4000 shortly, so it would be nice to know if the VP is still sluggish or if it is comparable to '09

  2. Oops, comparable to Max 9 I meant.

  3. I have also had the same struggles with the sluggish viewport. The Nitrous viewport is a total replacement of DirectX, and from what I found, even on large complex scenes it flys! Depending on your graphics card you should get really fast panning, orbiting and zooming. I think you'll really like the Nitrous viewport ;)
